Golden Triangle & Wild Places
DELHI — AGRA — CHAMBAL valley
— SARISKA national park — JAIPUR

ABOUT
This reimagined Golden Triangle keeps Delhi, Agra and Jaipur at its heart, but makes room for quieter discoveries. Explore the Taj Mahal, follow the Chambal River through rural India, and pause among Sariska’s Aravalli hills before finishing amid Jaipur’s palaces, markets and makers.
Why we love this trip
The Golden Triangle earns its reputation: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur contain some of India’s most striking architecture, food and living history. Too many journeys race between monuments, leaving little room to notice the landscapes and communities in between.
We chose this route because Chambal and Sariska change that rhythm. After Delhi and the Taj Mahal, the Chambal Valley introduces quiet riverbanks, temples, farmland and wildlife. Sariska follows with dry forest, open valleys and the ancient ruins of Neelkanth, bringing a wilder side of Rajasthan into the journey.
The cities are given proper time too. Agra is explored beyond its headline monument, while Jaipur balances its palaces with markets, workshops and contemporary craft. Travelling from Delhi to Agra by train adds another texture and makes the journey itself part of the experience.
This suits first-time visitors who want to see northern India’s defining sights, but would like to see a little more of rural India. It begins with the familiar, then reveals a quieter and less predictable side of the route.

DAYS 1–3 — DELHI
OLD AND NEW
Begin in Delhi, moving between the energy of Old Delhi and the city’s quieter historic spaces. Walk through Chandni Chowk with a private guide, sample carefully chosen street food and visit Humayun’s Tomb. Continue to Qutub Minar, where Delhi’s early Islamic architecture and layered history unfold among ruins, gardens and carved stone.
Highlight: Standing beneath Qutub Minar as the detail of its carved sandstone rises above the surrounding ruins.
WHERE TO STAY
This is simply our starting idea; every journey can be adjusted around you. The Imperial brings calm, history and a sense of occasion to central Delhi, with grand public rooms, established gardens, a pool and easy access to both old and new city experiences.
DAYS 4–5 — AGRA
BEYOND THE TAJ
Travel to Agra aboard the Gatimaan Express, with reserved seating and private transfers at both ends. Explore the Taj Mahal for sunrise, continue to Agra Fort and discover a less familiar side of the city through one of Ekaa’s thoughtful Beyond the Taj experiences.
Highlight: Seeing the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna before exploring the quieter neighbourhoods beyond its walls.
WHERE TO STAY
Ekaa Villa & Kitchen is a small, design-conscious base that treats Agra as more than a one-monument stop. We particularly like its personal hosting, contemporary Indian interiors and locally rooted experiences exploring the city beyond the Taj.

DAYS 6–7 — CHAMBAL VALLEY
RIVER COUNTRY
Leave Agra for the quieter landscapes of the Chambal Valley. A guided boat safari follows the river in search of gharial, crocodiles, dolphins and birdlife, while nearby Bateshwar brings a remarkable line of temples to the water’s edge. Walk through the countryside and settle into the slower rhythm of the lodge.
Highlight: Drifting beneath the ravines as gharial surface and birds gather along the riverbanks.
WHERE TO STAY
Family-run Chambal Safari Lodge sits within reclaimed woodland and farmland near the river. It feels peaceful and unforced, with naturalists, home-cooked meals and generous grounds that make the wildlife and countryside experience more than a brief excursion.
DAYS 8–10 — SARISKA
ARAVALLI WILDS
Continue into the Aravalli hills for a softer wildlife experience. Take two safaris through Sariska’s dry forest and open valleys, join the camp naturalist for birding or a guided walk, and visit the atmospheric ruins around Neelkanth Temple. The emphasis is on landscape, archaeology and time outdoors, not guaranteed tiger sightings.
Highlight: Reaching Neelkanth’s weathered temple ruins after travelling through Sariska’s rugged hills.
WHERE TO STAY
Utsav Camp Sariska is small, relaxed and well placed for both the reserve and Neelkanth’s ruins. Its cabins face the surrounding landscape, while naturalists arrange safaris, walks and quieter outdoor experiences beyond the usual Golden Triangle circuit

DAYS 11–13 — JAIPUR
PALACES AND MAKERS
Finish in Jaipur, where grand architecture sits alongside busy markets, family workshops and a thriving contemporary design scene. Visit Amber Fort, the City Palace and Jantar Mantar, then explore the old city on foot. A hands-on craft experience adds depth, with time left for Samode Haveli’s courtyards and pool.
Highlight: Meeting Jaipur’s makers after the crowds have dispersed from its palaces and forts.
WHERE TO STAY
Samode Haveli is a historic mansion tucked inside Jaipur’s old city. Painted courtyards, gardens and a pool create a welcome retreat, while its location makes early walks, markets and neighbourhood exploration feel naturally connected to the stay.
